BTW matlab also can not support for more than 64 workers on windows, which is a limit for EPYC. Having said that, on my CPU, the creation of the PNG is the dominant cost in this program. Without writing the PNG image, the program runs in under 2s (single thread) and scales nearly linearly with the number of cores used.
