Soft ferromagnetic materials

WebSoft iron is the type of ferromagnetic material. It possesses magnetization but can be re-magnetized with the use of small changes in electric force. This change in electric force is caused by the change in the alignment of atoms in the substance, which differs from hard iron due to this specific re-alignment characteristic. WebSoft magnets (low coercivity) are used as cores in transformers and electromagnets. The response of the magnetic moment to a magnetic field boosts the response of the coil wrapped around it. Low coercivity reduces that energy loss associated with hysteresis.
